Take a couple of deep breaths.
Recall that you are in the presence of God.
You are loved and blessed.

Psalm 19:7–8
7The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the decrees of the Lord are sure,
making wise the simple;
8the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear,
enlightening the eyes;

How do I look on the law, decrees, precepts and commandments of God? Are they things that limit me, or are they things that protect me from harm? God loves us and wants our best. His commandments are there for our benefit. They protect us from harm just like the warnings on some boxes we purchase at the store. If there is a big red bold message on a product that says don’t use without eye or ear protection, do we ignore the warning and use it anyway. Sadly some do and sometimes they may suffer for their choices. The same is true of the commandments of God.

Do I see the benefit of each of God’s commands?
If a particular commandment were followed universally, how would the world be better?

Pray to God, using these words or others as you see fit.
Holy God, thank you for your love and care.
Thank you for giving us commandments that protect us.
Jesus you came and showed us how to live. Thank you for all that you did.
Holy Spirit, you speak to our conscience and guide us in your ways. Thank you.
Holy God, all that you do is for our benefit.
Help me follow you more closely
Help me draw closer to you.
